During this time the Turks used military and propiganda to break the Armenians and split them from the rest of the world. Posters like these on the left are examples of the propiganda used. People were massacred indiscriminately, men and women, old and young. Massive shootings would occurred at random, day or night . Pillaging, persecution, torture, rape and other sexual abuses took place. Winston Churchill defined the massacres as an “administrative holocaust” when he said, “…the clearance of (The Armenian) race from Asia Minor was about as complete as such an act could be… There is no reason to doubt that this crime was planned and executed for political reasons. The opportunity presented itself for clearing Turkish soil of a Christian race opposed to all Turkish ambitions.”
